This week we made a shoe shop. The children have had a great time being shop assistants, cashiers and customers.
There was lots of problem solving, which shoes would fit? How did they know? The children measured their feet and the shoes using direct comparison, cubes and tape measures.
The cashiers worked out how much the shoes cost and the customers tried to pay with the correct coins.
The children even used the junk modelling to make boxes to take the shoes home!
The children have enjoyed using the balance in class so we made a DIY balance for the sand kitchen.
Lots of lovely language used and some fab problem solving skills used to work out how we could make the balance.
The children had a great time using the balance so we are hoping to purchase a more robust one soon!
Lots of fun in the water tray too!
We also wrote shopping lists and made pizzas this week. Images to follow.
