This week we have been investigating ice again.
Mrs Bravey showed us a block of ice that had some Arctic animals trapped inside.
We had to think of ways to get them out.
There were lots of suggestions - grit, salt, stones, sticks and hammers.
The stone worked well.
The hammer was even better.
Lots of lovely discussion about why some objects were better at breaking the ice. We decided that - the hard objects broke the ice well, you could swing the hammer more so it was better than the stone, the stone is better if you use two hand to bang it and salt helps the ice melt quickly!
After lots of investigation, and rescuing all of the animals, some children decided to try and make ice sculptures.
Thanks for reading, we would you to leave us a comment!
