We would like to thank all of you for your fantastic support and donations and we look forward to our official Pirate Picnic being rescheduled after half term.
Unfortunately our stay and play was cancelled due to the weather but we had a fun time preparing our pirate treasure maps and building ships. The children enjoyed their pirate picnic at snack time and were very excited to be dressed in their costumes. We would like to thank all of you for your fantastic support and donations and we look forward to our official Pirate Picnic being rescheduled after half term. Enjoy your half term!

This week we have learned more about where insects live and their features. We received a letter to let us know that a radioactive spider had managed to get into the nursery grounds so we had to go on a hunt. Was it next to the climbing frame? Was in on top of the sand pit? Was it inside the shed? Where could it be? Take a look at what else we have been doing this week... The children absolutely love our new building bricks. We've seen so much teamwork and discussion, as well as some excellent walls and towers. The bricks have provoked lots of critical thinking this week. The children have developed an interest in creating their own models and dens on a larger scale. We have been using large poles and connectors in the big shed. Beautiful butterflies... Some of the children demonstrated the life cycle of a butterfly to the rest of the class. To show the butterflies emerging from their cocoons we wrapped the children in paper. They stretched out their wings to break free and then we all fluttered around the playground. Our very own caterpillars are on route to nursery now... Also... A special visitor came to nursery! "Mouse Mess" M M Mmm... Sticking with our Gruffalo theme has been fun. We even created our own dessert. Mouse tails, prints, droppings, teeth... What else would you expect to see in mouse mess? It tasted delicious! Also... We have had great fun making our own Gruffalo crumble. It was delicious! The children did a fantastic job of making it, using different techniques and tools and working together. We're going on a shape hunt... We have been learning about the names and properties of 2D shapes. The children enjoyed working in teams to find the hidden shapes on the playground. It's been very interesting making shape monsters too! Mrs Rees has donated an old printer to nursery. The children have been exploring how it works, which parts move and how they can take it apart. This has provoked lots of questions and teamwork within the group. Also this week... Down in the jungle...We have been learning about animals and where they live. Inside the classroom we made a jungle! We put our playdough inside the tuff spot and added broccoli, cabbage and spinach so we could make a mini jungle. It was fantastic! We have moved like different animals on the playground and we've also been on animal hunts in the woods. It has been a busy week indeed! We went on an animal hunt in the woods! Miss Cummings hid all of the cards whilst we were eating snack. We have tunnels!!!Mrs Rees brought some tunnels to our field. We had great fun exploring them; running through and listening to echoes (and playing monsters of course)! They are great for climbing on too. Do you think you could balance on them? Also...Can you guess who is in the aeroplane? One of our morning children went flying with his family. His Dad flew the plane over the school so we could wave and shout hello. How fantastic! "Who's that trip-trapping over my bridge?"The children had great fun acting out the Three Billy Goats Gruff using the role play masks. They had fantastic recall of the story. After hearing different versions of the story and watching a short video, they built some bridges for the troll to hide under and worked together to re-tell the story themselves. We love music! We have been incredibly creative this week. The children have been using the instruments to accompany the singing of their favourite songs. What is your favourite song? Maybe you could practice in time for our next stay and play! Some of us used other items as instruments too... Also...We had an egg decorating competition in nursery. Mrs Rees came to pick the winners and she said it was a VERY tough decision. Well done to everybody for taking part! Stay and PlayEverybody has lots of fun at our stay and play sessions. It was fantastic to see everyone having fun and enjoying our Easter activities. The children love to show off their special books (learning journals)! Here's what else happened that week...We can't forget the egg rolling! Group hug!!!Mrs Klemm was overwhelmed by all of her gifts, cards and hugs from the children. She will be missed but we hope she enjoys her new school.
We have made the most of the lovely weather this week! On Wednesday we even had our snack outdoors. We have been having lots of fun with the tyres, reels and tubes- they roll really fast! This is wonderful for our gross motor skills and for working together. On Friday afternoon we put our suits on and explored outdoors. Mrs Wall has a lot of washing to do over the weekend! *Our supply teacher, Mrs Klemm will be leaving us on Thursday to start her new job elsewhere in the summer term. We'll be very sad to see her go. *
The children love to build with the blocks. They are beginning to plan and follow through on their ideas. Can you see the fantastic thinking skills behind their buildings? Our teamwork is improving almost every day! We have a new band! It was great making and changing sounds with objects from around the classroom. |
