Surprise!!!The children worked very hard to make some wonderful candle holders, cards and cakes for Mother's Day. We think they did a fantastic job! Taking our Maths outdoors...We were very excited when these blue buckets were donated to nursery. They have been used to store and transport resources and this week they were used to help us to do some Maths in the woods. We worked in pairs, collecting items to match the quantity to the number on the buckets. We have so much fun at nursery! We hope you are enjoying filling the Talking Tubs at home. The children absolutely love sharing their experiences with their friends and we love to display some of the items inside the learning journeys.

Last week the children came back to nursery raring to go! They enjoyed talking about the half term holiday; sharing their adventures with their friends. We made the most of the sunshine and took lots of activities outside. *Talking tubs*During this half term each child will have the opportunity to bring a Talking Tub home for the weekend. Please fill the tub with items related to what you have done. Items could be photographs, tickets or receipts, small toys or items you have collected. We will choose one child each day to tell the class about their weekend.
Will it be your turn next? Before half term we were very busy cooking and baking! We celebrated Chinese New Year and Pancake Day together; tasting new food and making pancakes. Stir fry on Chinese New YearPancake day :-)Be my Valentine?See you next week for more fun and learning!
Last week we showed you how we made bird feeders. After a weekend chilling in the fridge they were ready to be hung for the birds. We went into the woods with Mrs Bravey to hang them all in different places. I wonder if we can get any photographs of the birds enjoying their treats? Getting ready for Chinese New YearChinese New Year is on Monday 8th February. This week we have made Chinese lanterns. Have you noticed them hanging in the Nursery entrance? We have also made lucky fish and painted and cut out dragon masks. We explored colours and how they can change. It was lots of fun mixing the powder paint. In the outdoor area we tried mixing the paint with the rain water by rolling tyres through puddles and across the playground! Here are some of the other things we have enjoyed this week... Baking jam tartsAfter learning all about 'Thelma Three' we baked jam tarts to take home. (Thelma tried to steal the jam tarts in Ten Town!) They were delicious! Making bird feedersOn Friday we made bird feeders. We're going to hang them in the woods next week so the birds still have enough to eat when the ground is frozen. Thank you all for helping us to collect the yoghurt pots to make the feeders. Take a look at some of the other activities we have enjoyed... All of our new children are settling into the nursery very well. They have been really busy making new friends and exploring our classroom. The older children have been helping them to enjoy all of our activities. We love to play and learnLast week it snowed and we went for a walk around the school grounds. Making snow angels and running through the snow was great.
Afterwards we had hot chocolate with marshmallows to warm us up. It was delicious! They found snails and looked at their spiral shells. They made spiral swirls in shampoo. They also made spiral shapes with chalk, ribbons and with sticks in the sand. They made spiral patterns on paper and cut them out. They did snail paintings and they made spiral books. They planted sunflower seeds and they are going to plant more. They have made a shop with shopping lists, tills and they play in there a lot taking turns being customers and shopkeepers. They have been learning Easter and spring songs. They have made Easter bonnets at home and they are going to bring them in for an Easter bonnet parade. Mrs Rees is going to pick the winner.
