Our science topic 'LIGHT' provided lots of cross curricular learning opportunities. We created silhouettes of ourselves to display around our room and made a shadow theatre by reusing offcuts of colourful card and paper to decorate a cardboard box. In English our Tales, Fables, Myths, Legends and Parables unit provided inspiration for imaginative story telling with shadow puppets. We practised story telling and the various voices different characters might have. We had already learned in our science lessons that light travels in straight lines. Our shadow theatre work reinforced this. Finally we looked at how our eyes work and the importance of protecting them from the sun. We upcycled some 'London 2012' sunglasses by decorating them with card and paper scraps. In French we practiced greetings, numbers and learned about special foods. Our History lessons looked at the Bronze Age, how people lived, settled and how society developed gradually. During Energy Month in November we considered all of the ways in which we all contributed to Global Warming, everyday. We made a display to show what we knew. We thought about the fact that "No-one can do everything, but everyone can do something" to help look after our world. Completed by Kian 😇 This term class 3s topic is weather. They learned about the climatic zones around the world then they made weather symbols and gave weather forecasts, using Easi-speak microphones. Next they learned about The Beaufort Scale, The Water Cycle and made British Isles weather maps on the computer. They measured wind speed and direction on the school field and kept records of the temperature every day throughout the term. They researched the Vanuatu Cyclone and felt sad for the people of Vanuatu, who have lost everything. On our "Big Tidy Up" litter pick around the village, we collected 14 bags of litter. We think we did a great job! Written by Kian (digital leader) Class 3 have been learning about Tales, myths and fables. Here are some photos of their work. Written by Kian (digital leader) |
